Nano-Poly Enhancement System
Adjuvent is widely used to increase the efficacy of vaccination on human
being. Many adjuvants have been proved to be effective and relatively
safe. However, adjuvant also has various side effects such as pain,
headache, fever, etc. Due to the possible side effect and other
concerns, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), instead of grant
approval for an adjuvant itself, reviews each vaccine-adjuvant
combination as a separate package. The exception is alum (a generic term
for salts of aluminum, such as aluminum hydroxide and aluminum
phosphate), the only currently approved adjuvant per se. The Aluminum
salt was used as adjuvant since 1920s. It is widely used in various
vaccines. Quite often, its side effect and less strong adjuvant function
hinders it as a favorable choice.
China Biopharma, Inc. jointly with HYTE Research LLC have proposed a
unique and proprietary vaccine enhancement system, which could
significantly reduce the side effects that currently associated with
many types of adjuvants. It would also enhance the antigen
immunogenicity. The proposed approach aims at stimulation on the Antigen
Presentation Cell (APC) to better take in the administered antigen
vaccine, ease the difficulty of antigen processing/presentation, and
minimize the damage to the APC. In this way, the vaccine efficacy can be
enhanced; meanwhile the side effect can be reduced.
The many vaccines produced in various countries, such as China have not
yet use any adjuvant to improve the protective antibody responses after
immunization. This technology could be quickly applied to many vaccines
sold today and significantly improve their efficiency. China Biopharma
believes this technology may lead to wide applications in human vaccine
industry.
